It's early October and the sun is still shining upon us, here in Ireland. Now, don't get me wrong, sunny day doesn't always mean hot day - but at least, with a cosy jumper and a scarf, one can read outside and enjoy the gorgeous weather we are blessed with.
Before it's too late, I would like to share some of our summer pallets creations.
There are no indications really. Just be creative, have a measuring tape and, depending on the pallets you get, a good saw. You will also need either paint or varnish (clear or tainted), and therefore some brushes and a jar full of spirit to wash your brushes at the end.
We have a hardware shop down in the village, and they sometimes get rid of the old and damaged pallets. As soon as we started working with the pallets, we loved it so much that we couldn't stop.
We ended up making two benches with a table; an outdoor box for the turf (winter is coming, better be prepared!); some shelves in the kitchen and the latest addition is a self-standing shelf unit for the bathroom - I still need to sand and varnish it.
The lads down at Kelly's know us pretty well now ;)
I don't have a picture of the second bench, yet: we kept the industrial look given by the pallets by using a clear varnish.
It seemed that pallets creations were highly fashionable this summer - Glad we were in without really knowing it !
I'll try and post some more pictures soon.
